Roller Shutter Won't Open or Close?

This is the most common call we get, and it's usually one of a handful of causes: a broken spring or worn tension mechanism on manual shutters, a burnt-out or faulty motor on motorised ones, or the curtain has simply come off its guide track. Which one it is changes the fix and the cost, which is why we ask a few questions before quoting rather than pricing blind.

On motorised shutters, the motor and control gear are the parts that fail first — especially on units that cycle many times a day, like storefront shutters. Symptoms include the motor humming but the shutter not moving, the remote or wall switch doing nothing, or the shutter stopping partway through its travel.
